Crashing winter waves, monochromatic drama and a fantasy-sprinkle of Beauty and the Beast were stylist Indu Brown and My Wedding Décor’s inspiration behind our Winter Monochrome Beach Wedding Styled Shoot.

Stylist Indu Brown began with a long 2.4m table, covered in a crisp white linen tablecloth and then covered with a central silk slate grey table runner. She placed two 120cm long mirrors end to end down the centre of the table. Crystal clear Tiffany chairs suggest the ice of winter.

Guests were greeted on arrival at the table with the menu handwritten in white marker on clear Perspex, again to suggest ice sheets, nestled in the creamy white sand in a large white clamshell, set against silver suede foliage, pale seashells and gently illuminated by a glass ball tealight candle.

Their individual seating placements included slate grey silk napkins, bone-handled cutlery, and gleaming glassware.

The long mirror centrepieces featured four dramatically tall 60cm high clear glass vases whose bases were covered in a thick layer of fine black sand.

Bursting through the black sand was a faux snow-dusted manzanita branch decorated sparingly with fragrant honeymoon roses, some of which had fallen to the bottom just as in Beauty and the Beast, but all of which are alive with romance.

The life within the glass centrepieces is reflected on the mirror strips which are further enlivened and given great warmth by the glowing glass ball tealight candles. The gently scattered pale seashells are a nod to the beach theme while the silver suede foliage leaves look as though they’ve got a light layer of winter frost.

Our florist, Nat from Foxy Evergreen included roses, snowberry, silver suede foliage, and Andromeda. These flowers are available year-round, making them a wonderful choice for a winter wedding as they look lush, and in no way “barren”!

The nod to the beachside location was a gorgeous three-tiered cake featuring handmade fondant seashells, starfish and coral, with a small jet of pearl “bubbles” rising up the cake by The Icing Artist.
