The first in our series of Trend Reports for 2018 focuses on Invites and Menus. Some of our favourite designers including Agapi Designs, Sketch & Etch, Ashdown & Bee and D&D Letterpress, ELK Prints and The Distillery tell us what the hottest trends are this year, and how to make an outstanding impression on your guests, from their first glimpse of the invitation suite all the way to the place cards and menus.

1: It’s All about Acrylic

Acrylic is such a versatile material, and we’re seeing so many modern couples embracing it for their weddings this year. It makes such an impressive statement and can be used for so many of the wedding details, including table numbers, place cards, seating charts, cocktail stirrers, wishing wells and more – bringing a smart, cohesive look to the day.

2: Laser and Papercut Menus

Gone are the days when menus were confined to traditional rectangular and square formats. Embrace laser and paper cutting, and you can dream up the perfect addition to your tablescape, whether it be a watercolour menu or an intricate cutout.

3: Focus on the Envelope

No longer are envelopes merely a protective layer for your invitation. In 2018, we’ve seen gorgeous statement envelopes and stunning liner paper hit the scene. The envelope is the first piece of the invitation suite that your guests will see, and you have the chance to make a very strong impression. Think contrast borders, floral linings and one of our favourites – foil print. Foil print is really fashionable right now, and you can see why. It’s a great way to add a touch of opulence without going over the top.
